2009 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Revealed!

2009 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Ladies and gentlemen! Introducing, the 2009 Hyundai Genesis Coupe! Finally we catch a glimpse of the real deal, thanks to anthony718, a member of the New Tiburon Forum, who claims he got the pictures from a “friend.” Rrriiiight… whatever you say, buddy! Wink Wink. The photos allegedly came from a market research event back in June.

Hyundai is pegging the new RWD Coupe as a Mustang fighter. Perhaps that is why it is seen parked next to a mustang in these pictures. If the specs we have are accurate, then they could ultimately be right. According to our source, the Coupe will initially come with two engine options, a 2.0L turbo with 215HP and 217 ft-lbs of torque, or a 3.8LV6 with 300HP and 280 ft-lbs. Prices are suggested to begin at $19,900 for the 4 banger, and $25,900 for the V6. We’ve got reason to believe that the Coupe may even one day come with Hyundai’s newly developed Tau V8 engine.

Meh… I don’t like the front fascia at all.
The profile looks like that of a G35 coupe or Altima coupe. Not a bad thing, but not exactly cutting edge originality here either. And the wheels are screaming last gen Tiburon. You’d think they would have fancied those up a bit.

    So, Derek? What’s your point?

Wake up and smell the coffee. Hyundai is on a roll and has been for a few years now. But I guess you’re too busy learning everything you know about cars from the Fast and The Furious movies to ever notice that some things change.

I’ll make a bet that you drive a Honda civic.

the t/c 4 banger could easily become a tuner favorite. I can’t think of another rwd vehicle at that price point - great potential.

    I agree with you, Justin!
I’m looking forward to a potential trend by automakers to start making light(ish) rwd 4 bangers again, like the good old days.

Saturn Sky Redline / Pontiac Solstice GXP.

I currently drive an 03 RSX 160hp. kind of a Honda fan but the new Civic Si did not meet my expectations in design and power, but if Hyundai comes out with this Genesis rear wheel base and 2.0 turbo. I think I would trade in my RSX and get the Hyundai. You have got to admit that would be good power for that amount of money.
