Is Bentley Getting Veyron Power?
Are we the only ones who think sticking 987 horses under the hood of a 2.5 tonne brick is a bad idea? According to Autocar, Bentley sources have confirmed a prototype Arnage that makes use of the Bugatti Veyron’s 987bhp quad-turbo W16 engine. Volkswagen owns both Bentley and Bugatti, so this is not so hard to believe. In fact, Franz-Josef Paefgen, the boss of Bentley and acting president of Bugatti, is said to have been the driving force behind the project.
If you know anything about the Veyron, you’ll know that it was designed with purpose. Every little part, every shape in the body pannels, - even the open design of the engine - was built in such a way as to help the car go as blazingly fast as physics would allow. So obviously, dropping such a beast of an engine under the hood (at the front btw) of a car that looks about as aerodynamic as a greased up fat man in biker shorts could turn out pretty badly. Fortunately there is no plans to actually produce such an abomination at this point.
