There have been rumors circling the interweb for some time regarding Nissan’s plans to bring back the much loved, much missed Silvia/240sx. There seems to be some some evidence to support these rumors too! Now, a website known as Rocket Punch Auto Blog claims to be in the know. Rocket Punch is saying that a new Silvia has gotten the green light by Nissan execs, and will make production by 2010 with a price point between ¥2,000,000 and 2,500,000 (Which roughly equates to $18,435 and 23,044 USD).

This is good news. A rear wheel drive, performance oriented yet low cost sports car is exactly what the market is missing. The word on the street as for the Silvia and 240sx is that it will be based on a shortened 350z platform, likely powered by a Renault engine.
Oh, it should be noted that the above images are just artist renderings, and not officially sourced by Nissan.
Sweet. Give us your thoughts.

NISMO, Nissan’s racing branch revealed that the GT-R will be replacing the Fairlady Z (350Z) in the 2008 Super GT Championship racing series. The car will compete in the top GT500 class. While Nissan hasn’t released any specifics, we’d wager a guess that the race GT-R will have the maximum allowable 500 horsepower.
We reported a few weeks ago that Nissan execs confirmed a GT-R Spec V will see production, and the V spec may produce even more horsepower.
Ultimately we’ll have to wait until February before Nissan releases any more details on the racer, but for the time being, you can make the jump to read their official press release.

We found a video of the Nissan GT-R running around the Nurburgring. Filmed through a couple of interior cameras, you can definitely get a sense of what its like to try and round the track as fast as possible.
Enjoy!

These days, many manufacturers are competing to build extremely cheap vehicles for emerging markets such as China and India. Nissan is currently working on a small vehicle that should cost only $2,500 to be sold in 2010 for the Indian market. But if Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn has his way, the company will launch their small and cheap vehicle globally.
If you’re like us, you might be thinking about the logistics of such a move. Ghosn seems to have the answers. For example, in order for a vehicle to meet North American crash test standards, vehicles require reinforcements. Ghosn promises that such modifications could be added to the vehicle, while still maintaining a price tag of around $3,000. Pretty astounding. Production costs would be kept low by outsourcing to Indian motorcycle manufacturer Bajaj Auto, whom Ghosn will be convening with next week some time.
Image pictured above is the the JDM Nissan Cube. The next-gen version will be sold in the U.S. to rival Toyota’s Scion xB. This does not reflect what the ultra-cheap Nissan will look like.

Nissan execs have confirmed that there will be a spec v variant of the GT-R. This means that we’ll soon get to drool over an even more powerful, lightweight version of the 473 horsepowered super car from the land of the rising sun.
The Spec V GT-R can be expected to become available in the U.S. market some time in 2010. There has been no details released on pricing or performance specs, but we guarantee you that as soon as we find out, you’ll be notified.

You can thank Inside Line for this one! The Nissan GT-R is going to be the unrivaled star at the Tokyo Auto Show next week and we’ve got high resolution photos of the car in all its undisguised glory!
Through the photos we can discern that this car, capable of 0-60 in 3.5 seconds will also be relatively practical. The trunk is spacious enough that it can even fit your mother in law should you decide to take a “road trip.” Interior shots indicate that the dashboard is quite tame, the steering wheel is nice and thick, and there are even back seats in case you wanted company on your aforementioned “road trip.”

While it’s not uncommon for car designers to draw inspiration from nature, sometimes they can get a little carried away. Are we the only ones that think this thing looks like a duck? On a serious note, let us introduce you to the Nissan Round Box (R.D/B.X) concept to be unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Show.
Designed to be a “Youth-Oriented Compact Convertible Providing Occupants With Sensation of Speed and Exhilaration”, the Round Box takes open air driving to a whole new level that would make its occupants feel right at home. In the year 2144! We think Nissan has certainly achieved what they were going after, as this car looks like it would be a blast to drive. With wheels pushed to the corners, and diminutive dimensions, the car practically begs to be tossed around in the twisties.
Unfortunately, Nissan has remained silent about any sort of technical specifics. Perhaps once its officially unveiled in Tokyo in a couple of weeks, we’ll have more to tell you. For now, you can check out a video and some more pictures as well as a press release. Just make the jump!

Is the car pictured here the latest Nissan Skyline? Technically, no. Nissan no longer uses the Skyline moniker for their global cars. However, what you see here is the Nissan GT-R in its production-ready form. Nissan plans to officially unveil the car on October 24th at the Tokyo Auto show.
Said to be powered by a 500bhp twin-turbo 3.5L V6, and using the next gen ATESSA all-wheel drive system, the GT-R has already proven itself to be extremely fast. How fast? Well, it beat a Porsche 911 Turbo on the Nurbergring. Nissan ultimately aims to beat the Porsche Carrera GT’s time as well.
Wanna see a video of it? Yeah you do! Just make the jump.
