BMW X6 Taken Out For a Spin

12th, November 2007 posted in BMW, Reviews, Spy shots | Comments: 2

BMW X6 - Sports Activity Coupe Our friends over at Winding Road got a chance to take the BMW X6 for a spin not too long ago.
BMW execs are calling it a “Sports Activity Coupe” because not only will it be very ballsy, but because it will still be very utilitarian. With a steeply raked windshield, wide, sporting, and aggressive stance, and sporty profile, the X6 supposedly behaves quite well on a track.
We won’t go into too much more detail. Instead, go to Winding Road and read their review on the X6, which should hit sales floors in mid 2008.

Review: 2007 Mini Cooper S

26th, October 2007 posted in Mini, Reviews | Comments: 0

2007 Mini Cooper S The other day, we were fortunate enough to take a Mini Cooper S out for a spin, in order to bring you the first review on Driver’s Life. The 2007 Cooper S has undergone some changes for 2007. It boasts some new exterior and interior styling, a new engine and a modified suspension. If you look hard enough (and you may have to squint) you’ll notice that it’s taller than the preceding model in order to meet new pedestrian-impact standards that require a minimum of four inches of space between the top of the hood and the top of the engine. This year’s model is also slightly longer than the preceding Cooper S, featuring a sport suspension with firmer springs, dampers and anti-roll bars.

Mini Cooper S - Starting MSRP $21,200 – $25,400

First impression:
When I climbed into the car for the first time I couldn’t help but notice the refinement of the interior. Everything from the stitching on the seats, to the plastics used on the dash suggested to me that this was not a cheaply made vehicle. Though the seats in the model I test drove were not clad in leather, the fabric felt rugged and durable, and the seats were bolstered holding my medium sized frame in snug and secure. One thing I noted was that the windshield offered a somewhat narrow view of the road compared to other more conservatively styled vehicles. The seating position felt comfortable, and although the dashboard elements were layed out in an unconventional manner, I didn’t find them terribly difficult to get used to.

We scoured the web looking for some cool videos to submit, and we came up with a good one. The video you are about to see features Jeremy Clarkson, host of Top Gear, counting down the top 10 cars of the century. Yeah, yeah. We know, its old. But its a goodie, trust us! Clarkson never fails to keep us entertained.

The first video counts down from 10 to 6.

Saturn Sky Redline review

28th, September 2007 posted in Reviews, Saturn, Videos | Comments: 0

You may recall a few weeks ago there was a post about the 5 coolest cars that you could actually afford.
We pegged the Saturn Sky Redline as one of those cars. We’d love to get our hands on one and review it ourselves, but alas, here in the City of Calgary, there’s a pretty hefty waiting list at Saturn dealerships to even get a test drive. So we’ve decided to sit back and let our industry peers over at CarTV do the hard fun work.
Enjoy!
