There’s no way to tell if these pictures are legitimate, or just very high quality forgeries, but we don’t really care either. Just look at these photos! Its a beautiful vision!
We expect the car to use the same basic underpinnings of the hard top, with the same 4.2L v8 powerplant producing 414 rampaging horses. Audi ultimately plans on equipping the R8 with a Lamborghini sourced V10 engine which will make over 500hp.

Hey you. Yea, YOU! You’re reading this right? So what are you waiting for? We want to know what your dream car is.
Here’s the scenario:
Your great great Aunt Chloe (twice removed) has just passed away, and left her vast 3 million dollar fortune all to you. Due to your insurance company being the evil, ruthless corporations they are, you’re only allowed to insure one more vehicle on your policy.
What is the one car will you buy with your newfound fortune and why?
Our friends over at Winding Road got a chance to take the BMW X6 for a spin not too long ago.
BMW execs are calling it a “Sports Activity Coupe” because not only will it be very ballsy, but because it will still be very utilitarian. With a steeply raked windshield, wide, sporting, and aggressive stance, and sporty profile, the X6 supposedly behaves quite well on a track.
We won’t go into too much more detail. Instead, go to Winding Road and read their review on the X6, which should hit sales floors in mid 2008.

It’s no secret that the Mercury brand of cars is slowly circling the drain. They have been for a while, and despite Ford’s CEO, Alan Mullay claiming that the brand is doing well, things don’t look too bright. Driver’s Life wrote earlier on the rumor that
by 2012, Mercury would be killed off in much the same way as GM did to Oldsmobile.
Why did it come to this? What should be done about it?

Well, folks. What can I say? Its Saturday, my internet connection is about as sketchy as the guy with a moustache parked in a rusty brown van outside my house with binoculars aimed at my window, and there’s not much going on in the automotive world today.
Therefore, I decided to hit up the Tube of You and try and find some content interesting enough for y’all to keep subscribing to my RSS feeds. I know, I know… its a hard life.
This video shows a clip of Ken Block jumping a Subaru WRX STI over 170 feet.

Retardiculous, eh?! Make the jump to see another video of Block’s latest…uh…jump and then a bunch of Kiwi’s snowboarding.

You know, aside from a few problems, such as self-immolation, shoddy build quality, and lackluster power, the Pontiac Fiero was a pretty cool car. But nothing as cool as the commercial you’re about to watch. This video makes me want to bring back the 80s in a big, bad way!

Why does Ford insist on making all their cool vehicles in Europe? Auto Express has pulled the covers off Ford’s latest hot hatch offering. Available in both 3 door and 5 door formats, the Focus ST rocks an aggressive front grille design that projects the latest of Ford’s design cues. The headlights look rather like they came straight off the Mondeo, and the rear bumper has been fitted with a sporty diffuser designed to improve high-speed stability.
The gaping maw of the front bumper may look a little excessive, but its necessary, since the ST packs a potent turbocharged 5 cylinder 2.5L engine that produces 222hp, which can propel the ST from 0-60mph in only 6.5 seconds.
As for pricing, the three-door ST will start at £17,995, while the flagship ST-3 will cost you about £19,995. Five-door cars will command a premium of roughly £600.
Now for the question that’s been burning us up… Why doesn’t Ford make this model available in North America and badge it as a Mercury? Maybe that could save the dying brand.

Ladies and gentlemen! Introducing, the 2009 Hyundai Genesis Coupe! Finally we catch a glimpse of the real deal, thanks to anthony718, a member of the New Tiburon Forum, who claims he got the pictures from a “friend.” Rrriiiight… whatever you say, buddy! Wink Wink. The photos allegedly came from a market research event back in June.
Hyundai is pegging the new RWD Coupe as a Mustang fighter. Perhaps that is why it is seen parked next to a mustang in these pictures. If the specs we have are accurate, then they could ultimately be right. According to our source, the Coupe will initially come with two engine options, a 2.0L turbo with 215HP and 217 ft-lbs of torque, or a 3.8LV6 with 300HP and 280 ft-lbs. Prices are suggested to begin at $19,900 for the 4 banger, and $25,900 for the V6. We’ve got reason to believe that the Coupe may even one day come with Hyundai’s newly developed Tau V8 engine.

There’s an open Photobucket account with some more pictures here.
We couldn’t be more stoked to see this car, and want to know what you think of it. Leave your thoughts in the comments section!

According to World Car Fans, Volkswagen could be creating a convertible version of the Scirocco. They came to this conclusion based on the fact that the VW Eos coupe-convertible (CC) will be the platform used for the Scirocco coupe.
The new Scirocco looks to have a wide stance, suggesting that it’s going to handle quite well. Engines will be both gas and diesel, with the 1.4-liter 140hp gas unit offered as the base model. A more powerful 2.0-liter turbo engine from the Golf GTI should produce around 200hp and will be the top engine from the beginning, followed by the possibility of an even more powerful version producing 230-240hp later on. The most powerful diesel engine will be the new 2.0 liter common-rail delivering 170hp. Unfortunately, the car’s appearance will likely be dulled down with the usual government mandated bumpers and lights.
There is a problem though… a Scirocco Cabriolet could steal sales away from the Porsche Boxster, because it would be a cheaper alternative, assuming more powerful engines become available. Since a Porsche takeover of VW is iminent, the entire project could be dropped, or at the very least a Scirocco cabrio could be tamed down.
I guess we’ll find out soon enough. The Scirocco Coupe’s market release is scheduled for 2008, while the CC could launch the following year.

Scientists are working on a technology called ‘paramagnetic’ paint that has the ability to change colors at the touch of a button. With any luck, this technology should be publicly available by 2010, and a few car makers including Nissan are looking into the possibility of applying the technology to future vehicles.
How does it work? A special polymer containing ‘paramagnetic’ iron oxide particles is applied to metal objects like the body of cars. When a mild electric current is run through the body, the spacing of small crystals within the iron oxide particles change, therefore affecting their ability to reflect light and change color. A a continuous small current is needed to maintain the desired color, so when the car is turned off, the vehicle returns to a default white color.
Supposedly, the coating can reproduce almost any color in the visual spectrum, and only takes around a second to change the entire car’s color.
Now for the important question… if you touch the car, do you get a shock? And if so, how long before one of your dumb little buddies tries to pee on one?
