Question: Is there a place online where I can buy auto glass and replace it myself? And how is shipping handled on an item like this?
    asked by Samuel N.
    • Answer: You can buy auto glass online, and shipping is usually handled by fedex or ups. You'll probably want to go to a specialty store for it. One of the best is windshieldstogo.com.

Question: I had a few shop classes in school and know how to change a windshield. I cracked my windshield recently and would like to change it. Does anyone know where I can buy auto glass?
    asked by Lauren L.
    • Answer: There's a variety of places you can buy a new windshield. Typically this will cost about a hundred dollars, without shipping. The higher prices mean that you should check a local auto supply location rather than looking online.

Question: Is there a site where you can buy used car parts online? If you can buy used car models online, I assume you can buy parts online too.
    asked by Daniel D.
    • Answer: There are countless different companies all over the internet that sell different types of car parts. When you are looking to buy them it is best to use a reliable website such as Autozone.com.

    • Answer: Depending on your location, there are lots of online sites where you can buy used or wholesale-priced replacement parts. Most auto-wreckers now have their inventory even updated online, which is sweet... but you should still contact the company and just talk to a real person because they know so much more about the application and suitability of a particular part than you probably do. Most are amazingly knowledgeable, too, and can offer suggestions you might not have thought of. If you can't find someone locally -- which would be a real surprise -- many offer shipping for even bigger items like fender panels or bumpers.

Question: I want to buy a car, and because of my limited budget, I need to consider used cars. The problem is knowing what I am getting when I purchase a car that has been owned and used by someone else. I can't afford to buy a lemon. How do I make sure that I buy a reliable used car?
    asked by Laura Z.
    • Answer: Carfax (www.carfax.com) is one way to make sure that you are not purchasing a lemon. Carfax researches a car's history, to find whether or not a vehicle has been in any accidents. Additionally, many mechanics will check out a car for their clients (for a fee, of course).
      answered by Jay J.
    • Answer: I like Jay's answer. Carfax can let you know if, for instance, the odometer has been messed with or how many owners the car's title has showing or if it's part of a salvage title. That said, plenty of lemons don't show on Carfax reports because mechanical issues aren't a normal part of their record. This really is a place where "buyer beware" applies: try to ask as many questions of the seller as possible -- and be sure to ask, in as many different ways as you can -- why they're selling it. If you detect any answer that sounds the least bit suspicious, be very very wary. Rarely will someone tell you their clunker is a lemon.

Question: My tires keep messing up and I am flat broke are michellan tires cheap like under 100 dollars for all four?
    asked by Dylan E.
    • Answer: This is a difficult question to answer with the information given. You also need to know what size your tires are to get a better estimate of price. New tires are very rarely less than $100 for four tires, but you may want to consider used tires. Check your yellow pages to find a used tire retailer.

Question: I recently used my spare tire. I was wondering how I would go about buying new tires for my car. Are there any specific requirements I should be looking for when buying tires?
    asked by Courtney I.
    • Answer: Check local places first. I do not recommended starting with a brand name shop. Often the prices are very expensive. The only requirement that is important when purchasing your new tires is that they correspond to the car you are purchasing. Do not buy tires that are not the correct size for your car.
