Question: The transmission in my car has just blown. Where can I buy a new auto transmission?
Answer: AAMCO has made itself a household name in the transmission business, so they have a location in your area. A new car dealer of your car's brand should have some as well for more money.

Question: My transmission has been slipping a lot lately. Are auto transmission rebuilds really that effective?
Question: My mechanic told me I need to replace my entire transmission. How expensive is auto transmission repair?
Answer: It really depends, most mechanics will automaticly tell you that you need a whole new transmission, even if its a cheep and small repair because they simply dont understand how to repair a transmission, easyer to just have you pay for a whole new one, but if you can fined a good mechanic that knows how they function, he could just repair it, and 95% of the time its a trany pump or snapped band, most automatic tranys will go though 3 pumps to 1 full transmission, but even most ASE mechanics will just change the whole thing because they dont want to take the risk, understandable
Question: My gears have been sticking as of late. Where online can I find information about auto transmission problem?
Question: My car has been acting funny lately and I'm trying to narrow down what may be causing the problem. My gut feeling is that it has something to do with the transmission but I'm not sure. Can you tell me what some of the most common signs of auto transmission problems are so I can see if I am on the right track?
Answer: Any of the following MAY (but see your mechanic to be sure) indicate a transmission problem:
1) Erratic shifting
2) 'Thumping' when shifting when it was previously smooth. This may require only an adjustment. Some racing ttransmissions are adjusted this way to get maximum take-off and minimum slip, but it doesn't make for a comfortable street ride. Change your fluid and transmission filter (if it has one) while the tranny is open. Use the best, and use synthetic.
3) Chatter or whirring sounds.
4) Sudden white smoke out the tailpipe. Transmission fluid is being drawn up into the fuel system. This swas common with the older carburator engines.
5) Doesn't shift on an incline, especiall nose-up (probably low fluid level) and you need to determine the cuase NOW as soon as you can service it.
6) You see a red fluid spot under the car after you have been parked (as in the garage where you'll be more likely to notice it).
7) You detect an oily odor with no smoke. It may take a mechanic's meters and experience to determine what is the cause.

Question: I have a car that has over a hundred thousand miles on it. My transmission just died on me. I have a choice to repair it or try to get a new car. How much is auto transmission repair and is the cost worth it based on how many miles I have on the car?
Answer: Whether it's worth the cost is subjective and based on how much a new car will cost. However, the price of one or more thousand dollars for transmission repair means that it might well be possible that it'd be a better deal to just buy a new car.
Question: I need to buy auto parts. Are johns auto parts a reputable dealer for auto parts?
Answer: Johns Auto parts is a company in Minnesota. This is not a company that is in the area where I live and I have never dealt with this company, but judging by the company website, they seem like a reputable company to get your auto parts from if there is one in the area.
